Sophie's VW Polo

In case you hadn't noticed, we've been running a bit of a VW theme lately. Maybe its the time of year, but we've had an influx of VW's! Not to break the trend, Sophie contacted us about her brand new Polo. Sophie knows how to take care of her car, unfortunately the dealer doesn't. Only a few months old, Sophie had been carefully taking care of it to ensure it was swirl free. Whilst being serviced by the VW Dealership, Sophie asked them to ensure they did not wash her car, which they usually do as part of the service. Unfortunately, the dealer did not listen to her request, and Sophie's immaculate car was soon full of dealer induced swirls!

Fortunately she contacted us, and not only were we able to restore the car to better than new, we locked it all in with Opti-Coat.

We attacked the wheels and paint to remove iron deposits first:

This was followed by a snow foam and 2 bucket wash:

Debra's FG XR6 Turbo Ute!

It's not very often that we get Aussie Muscle in our workshop, let alone a ute. These things are an animal, with 400kw at the wheels easily possible after just a few minor modifications, making for some tyre smoking, doughnut making, sideways sliding fun! As a result, we were very excited when Debra called to get her XR6 Turbo Ute detailed prior to selling it.

We think Debra got her money's worth, and will definitely get a better sale price thanks to our work! As always, contact us on info@obsessioncardetailing.com to find out how we can help maximise your vehicle's sale price. Pics and details below, and as always, click photos to see bigger sizes.

The car was dirty, full of scratches, swirls marks, and water spots. This was not a full restorative detail, but rather the aim was to make the car look as good as possible without spending 20 hours plus on it.

As it came:

And the finished results! As mentioned, this was a pre sale detail, so we used a combination of cutting compounds and paint cleaners to get the car looking as good as possible for the sale. These techniques allow us to deliver a perfect finish without the time and expense incurred with a traditional paint correction, perfect for when you are on a budget, and are looking for maximum return on investment

Announcing New Opti-Coat Pricing

Advances in technology and investment by us have allowed us to drop our prices on Opti-Coat applications for new cars. Yep, that's right, in an unprecedented world first, we are lowering our prices!

Our new pricing structure is simple. Simply select what size of car you have, select any options, and bingo!

All prices include the Nationwide Opti-Coat Warranty!

Please note we need the car for at least 24 hours to allow Opti-Coat time to adequately cure.

Application of Opti-Coat Only

This involves a wash, paint decontamination, preparation of the surface, and application of the Opti-Coat.
  • $590 (small, medium, and large cars)
  • $690 (large 4WD's and SUV's)

Opti-Coat With a Paint Correction

This is our preferred method. Since Opti-Coat is a permanent product, it is important to remove any paint defects, otherwise they will be locked in forever. We also maximise shine and gloss, making your car look better than the dealer could ever dream! Cars from the dealer are not perfect, just take a look at all the cars we've done to see this, they are usually full of swirls, holograms, and water marks. We focus on getting the car looking as good as possible, and then locking it in with Opti-Coat.

  • $990 - Small (e.g. Toyota 86, Barina, small coupes and hatchbacks)
  • $1090 - Medium (e.g. VW Golf, BMW 3 series, most sedans)
  • $1190 - Large (e.g. BMW 7 series, most SUV's)

Extras

  • Wheels (faces only) - $100
  • Wheels (inside and outside) - $240

Interior

  • Opti-Guard (leather, fabric, vinyl, carpet, dash, plastic) - $450 with 2 year warranty

And if you have a used car, shoot us an email or give us a call and we would love to help you out!

Nathan's Black Polo GTI

Following on from last weeks Golf R, and the Beetle earlier, let's keep up the VW theme with this, Nathan's brand new Polo GTI.

The Polo GTI is the hidden gem in the VW family, bringing back some of the charm and character that made the Mk I and II GTI's so much fun way back when. As time has progressed, car's have gotten larger and larger, and this is especially obvious in BMW's for instance - the current 3 series is as big as a 5 series from a few generations ago, and similarly, the Polo, the baby in the VW range is the same size as the older Golf.

With a twin-charged engine in a small chuckable chassis, the Polo makes a formidable opponent on a twisty road, and presents a surprising challenge for any car attempting to get away from it. It's easy to park, great on fuel, has a 7 speed DSG, and puts a smile on your face, not to mention being highly tuneable and great looking!

However like most new cars, the Polo was not looking as good as it could. It had been sitting at the dealers for 6 months or so, so no doubt had been subjected to a plethora of dealer washes, filling the paint with swirls, scratches, and water marks. Scarily, Nathan tells us the car was 'detailed' prior to being delivered to him. Looks like he got buffer holograms from the dealer as a no cost option! Gotta love it when dealers throw in extras at no charge!

We are a big fan of the Detroit wheels on the Golf and Polo GTI, and it was important to get them looking good:

Like most quality German cars, the Polo had a healthy amount of paint:

Phillip's VW Golf R

The Golf R replaced the somewhat legendary Golf R32, and its gorgeous 3.2L VR6 engine. Whilst a simple reflash of the ECU of a GTI would make it faster than the R32, the R32 was known for its glorious engine growl, and there are a few getting around with turbo setups, making in excess of 500hp!

Despite losing the VR6 due to emissions, the Golf R got an updated version of the FSI engine, using a K04 turbo to produce some big power. This lead to more power and torque over the outgoing model, in a lighter car with more balanced wight distribution. It's no wonder they are so popular!

It's been a while since we've had a Golf R in, so we were more than happy to perform a paint correction on Phillip's car, and apply Opti-Guard on the inside, and Opti-Coat on the outside for long lasting paint correction.

The car was candy white with gloss black 19" wheels, our favourite combo!

Golf R

It was full of swirls, scratches and watermarks, being about a year old:

Phillip is currently recovering from surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery. His brother picked up the car and was stunned with it. We hope Phillip is equally stunned once he is able to get out of bed.

Introducing....Optimum Opti-Guard Fabric

After many months of testing, Optimum Opti-Guard Fabric is finally available.

Designed to complement the existing Opti-Guard Leather and Vinyl, Opti-Guard Fabric Opti-Guard creates a superhydrophobic coating to protect fabric seats, carpets, fabric convertible tops and other textile surfaces. When liquids come in contact with Opti-Guard Fabric, the surface repels the substance and liquids roll off without penetrating or staining the material.

Opti-Guard Fabric forms a strong bond with the fibres to prevent removal during cleaning. When combined with Optimum Fabric Cleaner & Protectant, the Opti-Guard system provides permanent protection for these surfaces.

Thus we know have a fully interior solution for vehicles, protecting both fabric and leather/vinyl.

An interior treatment for a standard new car is $449, and includes seats, mats, carpets, dash, door cards and any other leather/vinyl/plastic areas. We can also apply it to used cars, after some cleaning.

For new cars, a lifetime warranty  is offered when combined with an annual inspection, and is by far the best interior protection you can get for your vehicle. For used cars a warranty of 2 years is available, and covers UV damage and any permanent stains. A must if you have children!

Speak to us now about how we keep your vehicles interior looking good for as long as possible!
