Phillip's VW Golf R

The Golf R replaced the somewhat legendary Golf R32, and its gorgeous 3.2L VR6 engine. Whilst a simple reflash of the ECU of a GTI would make it faster than the R32, the R32 was known for its glorious engine growl, and there are a few getting around with turbo setups, making in excess of 500hp!

Despite losing the VR6 due to emissions, the Golf R got an updated version of the FSI engine, using a K04 turbo to produce some big power. This lead to more power and torque over the outgoing model, in a lighter car with more balanced wight distribution. It's no wonder they are so popular!

It's been a while since we've had a Golf R in, so we were more than happy to perform a paint correction on Phillip's car, and apply Opti-Guard on the inside, and Opti-Coat on the outside for long lasting paint correction.

The car was candy white with gloss black 19" wheels, our favourite combo!

It was full of swirls, scratches and watermarks, being about a year old:

Phillip is currently recovering from surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery. His brother picked up the car and was stunned with it. We hope Phillip is equally stunned once he is able to get out of bed.

Introducing....Optimum Opti-Guard Fabric

After many months of testing, Optimum Opti-Guard Fabric is finally available.

Designed to complement the existing Opti-Guard Leather and Vinyl, Opti-Guard Fabric Opti-Guard creates a superhydrophobic coating to protect fabric seats, carpets, fabric convertible tops and other textile surfaces. When liquids come in contact with Opti-Guard Fabric, the surface repels the substance and liquids roll off without penetrating or staining the material.

Opti-Guard Fabric forms a strong bond with the fibres to prevent removal during cleaning. When combined with Optimum Fabric Cleaner & Protectant, the Opti-Guard system provides permanent protection for these surfaces.

Thus we know have a fully interior solution for vehicles, protecting both fabric and leather/vinyl.

An interior treatment for a standard new car is $449, and includes seats, mats, carpets, dash, door cards and any other leather/vinyl/plastic areas. We can also apply it to used cars, after some cleaning.

For new cars, a lifetime warranty  is offered when combined with an annual inspection, and is by far the best interior protection you can get for your vehicle. For used cars a warranty of 2 years is available, and covers UV damage and any permanent stains. A must if you have children!

Speak to us now about how we keep your vehicles interior looking good for as long as possible!

The Bug - 2013 VW Beetle

One of our customers recently purchased this brand new VW Beetle for his wife. Naturally he wanted the best protection possible, that would require almost no maintenance, so he chose Opti-Coat and Obsession Car Detailing. For once the brief was simple - just prepare the car and apply the Opti-Coat, no correction needed. However, we aren't called Obsession Car Detailing for nothing so naturally it wasn't quite as simple!

Being a great colour and new, the Beetle looked pretty good on first inspection, other than some dirty wheels:

So we started with a soak, and then attacked the wheels with our long handled brush, allowing us to get inside the barrels:

Looking much better:

It was then time to bathe the car in foam and wash it to remove any dealer applied glazes and fillers:

After a blow dry (literally, we use large blowers to dry cars to prevent any scratching), we took the car inside to examine it. Being hard VW paint, there weren't too many scratches, but we could definitely do better:

The black spoiler at the rear was a bit worse for wear however:

Concentrating on high impact areas like the bonnet, the spoiler and the top of the guards, we gave them a light correction. Seeing as this car was a daily driver, our client wasn't after a show car finish.

And a quick 50/50 of the spoiler (pardon the dust!)

We then wiped the car down, removing any residue and oils, cleaned the car with a 15% IPA mix, and applied Opti-Coat, letting it cure overnight.

Some colours really pop after Opti-Coat and this red was certainly one of them:

The interior in the new VW's is fantastic. We applied Opti-Coat on the painted interior pieces, and applied a UV protectant on the leather and plastics. Note how the trim retains its matte appearance, and does not go glossy, which is the case when using cheaper, inferior products, often with silicone:

The interior feels like a million dollars. It even has a boost gauge, oil temperature gauge and lap timer!

A great little car and a pleasure to work on. Please contact us if you would like us to look after your pride and joy!

Stay tuned for some exciting details coming up!

Mark's Range Rover Evoque

Mark picked up this brand new Range Rover Evoque a few months back, and decided that it was time to get her looking as good as possible, and to protect her on the long trips he takes. Wanting the best protection possible, he gave us a call and arranged a time to drop the car off, to enable us to perform a full paint correction and Opti-Coat treatment.

It had seen a hard life so far, but we wasted no time in getting the Evoque looking better than new!

Upon initial presentation:

Not too bad you say? Well look closer....

Clearly we would have to get the big guns out for this one. We started with our own blend of products and let the car soak for a good 30 minutes:

Getting in between the badges:

And attacked those wheels with a pH neutral, safe wheel cleaner:

After washing the car, we brought the little beauty inside to examine the paint. What we found was not pretty:

The swirls and scratches on the black trim were particularly noticeable, but the white wasn't short of damage either:

As always, taping the car up to protect the rubbers:

As always, the 50/50 shots:

And of course the finished product. I'm sure you'll agree, a stunning transformation, and Mark liked it too!

We struggled to look at the car in the full sun, it was that bright and reflective!

Thank's to Mark for bringing his car to us and letting us work our magic on this little beauty!

Till then, stay away from automatic carwashes!
