Following on from last weeks Golf R, and the Beetle earlier, let's keep up the VW theme with this, Nathan's brand new Polo GTI.
The Polo GTI is the hidden gem in the VW family, bringing back some of the charm and character that made the Mk I and II GTI's so much fun way back when. As time has progressed, car's have gotten larger and larger, and this is especially obvious in BMW's for instance - the current 3 series is as big as a 5 series from a few generations ago, and similarly, the Polo, the baby in the VW range is the same size as the older Golf.
With a twin-charged engine in a small chuckable chassis, the Polo makes a formidable opponent on a twisty road, and presents a surprising challenge for any car attempting to get away from it. It's easy to park, great on fuel, has a 7 speed DSG, and puts a smile on your face, not to mention being highly tuneable and great looking!
However like most new cars, the Polo was not looking as good as it could. It had been sitting at the dealers for 6 months or so, so no doubt had been subjected to a plethora of dealer washes, filling the paint with swirls, scratches, and water marks. Scarily, Nathan tells us the car was 'detailed' prior to being delivered to him. Looks like he got buffer holograms from the dealer as a no cost option! Gotta love it when dealers throw in extras at no charge!
Starting the cleaning process:
We are a big fan of the Detroit wheels on the Golf and Polo GTI, and it was important to get them looking good:
Like most quality German cars, the Polo had a healthy amount of paint:
This 50/50 highlights how bad the paint really was:
It's as if the car has changed colour from grey to deep black!
The car was finished with application of Opti-Coat and allowed to cure overnight:
Simply stunning:
A big thumbs up from us!
